AI and custom software for dealerships, service centres and the automotive aftermarket

BuildspaceLabs builds custom software and AI agents for dealerships, service centres and independent workshops: lead-response and follow-up agents, online service booking with status communication, repair-order and inspection workflows, and used-vehicle inventory and listing pipelines. Every build is designed around the DMS, CRM or shop-management system already in place — through the vendor's published API, an authorised data feed, or an export the business controls. We are not a certified DMS partner under the CDK, Reynolds or equivalent programmes, and we are not an OEM-approved vendor, so we establish which read and write paths are actually open before any of it is committed to a scope.

// where teams get stuck

We start from the failure, not the technology

These are the automotive retail & aftermarket problems the builds on this page were commissioned to fix. If none of them describes your week, we are probably not the right team.

  • Internet leads sit unanswered while the floor is busy, and follow-up stops after the second attempt
  • The DMS holds the data but the integration path is gated, so every new tool becomes another silo with its own login
  • Customers ring the shop for status while advisors lose the day to the phone instead of selling work
  • Declined work, deferred repairs and service intervals get recorded and then never followed up
  • Used-vehicle listings go live late, with thin descriptions and inconsistent data across each marketplace
  • A dealer group cannot get one comparable number across rooftops because every store keys the same field differently
// what we build

Everything on this list is already built

6 capabilities, each one taken from a automotive retail & aftermarket system we have delivered — not a menu of what we could attempt.

  • Lead-response and follow-up agents that answer enquiries in minutes and hand a real buying question to a person
  • Online service booking, check-in and customer status communication tied to actual shop capacity
  • Repair-order, digital inspection and approval workflows for service advisors and technicians
  • Used-vehicle inventory tooling — VIN-level data, merchandising copy and listing feeds to marketplaces
  • Integration and data plumbing with DMS, CRM and shop-management systems via published APIs, authorised feeds or business-controlled exports
  • Native iOS and Android apps for customers, advisors and technicians
// questions

What automotive retail & aftermarket teams ask us first

Short answers, each one tied to a system we have shipped. The first is open; the rest are one click.

Have you built software for a dealership or repair shop before?

Not yet — automotive is a vertical we are actively building for, and we would rather say that than imply otherwise. The closest shipped work is in the adjacent vehicle domain: a real-time fleet tracking and dispatch platform with a driver mobile app, and Charge Pulse, an EV charging finder with live station availability and traffic-aware routing. The parts that transfer are the ones that usually decide these projects — vehicle-level data models, native mobile used in the field, and integrating against a system of record we do not own.

Can you integrate with our DMS?

It depends on which DMS and on what you need written back. Reading is usually possible — through the vendor's published API, an authorised third-party data feed, or a scheduled export the dealership controls. Writing back is the constrained part: CDK, Reynolds and similar vendors gate write access behind certified-partner programmes, and we hold no such certification. We confirm the available path in writing during scoping, so the limit is not discovered halfway through a build.

What can an AI agent actually do here, and what should it not do?

It can answer an enquiry within a minute of it landing, ask qualifying questions, book a service appointment against real capacity, chase declined work and send status updates. It should not quote a price it cannot verify, confirm a specific vehicle is still available without checking inventory, commit to a finance or trade-in figure, or keep messaging someone who has opted out. We build the escalation path, the consent handling and the message log before an agent goes anywhere near a customer.

Do you work with independent workshops, or only franchised dealerships?

Both, and the difference is mostly which system you are stuck with. A franchise store runs a DMS and OEM-mandated process; an independent runs a shop-management system such as Tekmetric, Shop-Ware or Mitchell 1 and has more freedom to change how work flows. The build shape is the same either way — booking, repair orders, inspections, approvals, parts and follow-up. We hold no OEM-approved vendor status, so anything that requires an OEM programme has to go through the dealer's own approval, not ours.

Do you build diagnostic hardware, OBD dongles or telematics devices?

No. We build software — web apps, native mobile apps, AI agents and integrations. Where a build needs data from a dongle, a telematics platform or a diagnostic tool, we integrate with that vendor's API rather than making the device. Fleet tracking and route optimisation belong to our Logistics & Mobility work rather than to this vertical.

How do we start if we are not certain the idea is worth building?

With one workflow rather than a platform: usually lead response, the service booking flow, or a single repair-order or inspection workflow, scoped so there is a measurable before and after. Scoping establishes the integration path first, because in automotive that is what determines whether the rest is buildable. We quote against scope rather than publishing rates, and support runs business hours IST, Monday to Friday.
