BuildspaceLabs builds the software layer over a contractor's drawings, project data and licensed tools: document AI that reads sheet sets, specs, submittals and RFIs; estimating support that wraps the takeoff tool you already use; and offline-first mobile apps for crews who lose signal the moment they walk onto the deck. We are not a BIM engine of record, we do not operate survey or reality-capture hardware, and nothing we build is engineering sign-off. We have not yet shipped a named construction engagement — the closest work is on-premise site-safety vision, offline-first field apps and document extraction built in adjacent industries, and we would rather say that plainly than imply otherwise.
We start from the failure, not the technology

- A revision lands and nobody is certain which sheets changed, so something gets built to a superseded detail

What do you actually build for construction and contracting firms?
The software layer over your drawings, project data and licensed tools — document AI for sheet sets, specs, submittals and RFIs; estimating support around the takeoff tool you already run; offline-first mobile apps for site crews; and the integrations that join Procore, Autodesk, Sage, QuickBooks or Tally to whatever else you use. We do not build a BIM or IFC modelling engine of record, we do not operate drones, scanners or survey instruments, and nothing we produce constitutes engineering or design sign-off.
Have you built software for a construction client before?
No — we have no named construction engagement to point to, and we will not dress up an adjacent project as one. What is real and directly relevant: on-premise computer vision for PPE compliance and boundary/intrusion detection built for industrial sites, offline-first field mobile apps built for logistics crews working through dead zones, document extraction and obligation tracking built over long-form property documents, and invoice-to-PO matching with approval routing built for finance teams. Those are the four capabilities most construction work here would draw on, which is why this vertical is on our list rather than a claim on our record.
Can AI do our takeoff?
Partly, and we would rather be specific than sell you the headline. Precision quantity extraction from CAD and BIM geometry is a specialist computer-vision problem with several well-funded products competing in it, and we do not claim parity with a dedicated takeoff engine. What we build is the work around it: reviewing and reconciling counts, cross-checking a takeoff against the spec sections and equipment schedules, pulling assembly and historical costs, and moving the output into your estimate and accounting system without re-keying. If a dedicated engine is the right answer for your drawing types, we will say so and scope the integration instead.
Will the field app work when there is no signal on site?
Yes — we build field apps offline-first as the default, not as a fallback mode. Data is captured and stored locally, the app stays fully usable through basements, lift shafts and rural sites, and entries sync when the connection returns with explicit conflict handling so two people editing the same daily report do not silently overwrite each other. This is how we already build driver and technician apps in logistics; the site version is the same architecture with a construction record.
Can you integrate with Procore, Autodesk Construction Cloud or Sage?
Usually yes, but the honest answer depends on your account rather than on us. We hold no certified or listed marketplace partner status with any of those vendors, so access runs through your own account and the vendor's approval process. Their APIs are also not symmetric: some objects are read-only, some write-backs are restricted or gated behind a higher tier, and a few workflows are only exposed through the UI. We check what your specific account exposes before we scope anything, and if the write-back you want does not exist we tell you at that point, not at delivery.
Can you help with safety and OSHA compliance on site?
We build the record-keeping workflows — inspection and checklist forms, toolbox-talk records, observation and near-miss capture, permit-to-work flows, worker certification and expiry tracking, and exports shaped to the log format you file. We hold no safety, security or quality certifications ourselves, we are not a compliance authority, and software cannot certify a site. Whether your programme satisfies OSHA, your local regulator or your client's requirements is a call for your qualified safety professional; our job is to make the evidence complete, timestamped and easy to produce.
Where are you based, and how does that work with a site in another timezone?
We are a small team in India working with clients globally, on business hours IST, Monday to Friday. We do not offer round-the-clock on-call cover and we will not pretend otherwise. In practice that means an overlap window agreed at the start, asynchronous handover written properly, and — for anything crews depend on during their shift — systems designed to degrade safely without someone on the other end of a phone.
